Our Story
Megan Garbe & Dorothy Laity are genealogists and friends who share
not only a lifelong personal and professional love of history,
but as the fates would have it, also share some common ancestors.
Having first collaborated to find the family of origin for a relative of Meg's,
we were shocked to see how few services exist to support those who are seeking their family of origin, or clues to where they come from,
and resolved to come together to help to meet that need.
We acknowledge the kind support of
our spouses & families (the blood families & the found families).
Without them, 'Lineage Ladies' would likely have remained a flight of fancy.
Meet The Team
Co-Founder Megan Garbe
Megan is a British-born genealogist of English Welsh & Irish heritage.
Her special research interests include:
Working with the survivors of the Industrial Schools System in UK & Ireland; Welsh genealogy; Irish genealogy; European genealogy and Medieval and early British genealogy.
Megan holds a degree in Archaeology & in her limited spare time, enjoys writing, table top roleplaying, and taking part in women's groups.
She lives in England with her husband, two children, and her Border Collie.
Co-Founder Dorothy Laity
Dorothy is a British-born genealogist of English, Cornish & Welsh heritage.
Her special research interests include: working with DNA; Descendancy research; European genealogy; & research in Cornwall and Yorkshire.
Dorothy is also a professional Living History Performer, and keen social historian.
In her limited spare time she grows vegetables, and raises funds for Irish Dogs for the Disabled, who provided her Assistance Dog partner Pierre, and his predecessor, Retiree Assistance Dog Emma. She lives in Ireland, with her spouse, 2 dogs, 2 cats, & some rescue hens
